About the Journal

Javano-Islamicus is an international peer-reviewed open-access journal published biannually (April and October) by the Postgraduate Program of UIN Sunan Ampel Surabaya. The journal focuses on scholarly research concerning the traditions, identity, ethnicity, and cultural practices of Javanese Muslim communities. It covers a wide range of disciplines, including sociology, anthropology, philosophy, history, politics, and the arts. Established in June 2022, Javano-Islamicus is the only academic journal, both nationally and internationally, dedicated exclusively to the study of Javanese Islam.
