1. Manuscript Preparation
1.1. Structural Requirements
1.1.1 Research Articles

  1. Title Page
    1. Title: Maximum 16 words (Garamond 14pt, bold), concisely reflecting the study’s focus.
    2. Authorship: Full names, institutional affiliations, and email addresses (corresponding author clearly marked)
    3. Abstract: 150–300 words (Garamond 11pt, italic), structured into: Background (research context), Methods (methodological approach), Key Findings (core results), Conclusions (implications and contributions).
    4. Keywords: 5 terms, separated by semicolons.Abstrak: Indonesian translation of the abstract (identical structure).
  2. Main Text
    1. Introduction: Clearly state the research problem, objectives, and significance (~800 words). Avoid excessive literature review; focus on gaps addressed.
    2. Methodology: Detail research design, data collection, and analysis procedures (qualitative/quantitative/mixed).
    3. Results and Discussion: Integrate findings with critical analysis, linking to existing theories or debates.
    4. Conclusion: Summarize contributions and propose actionable future research directions.
  3. Reference
    1. Minimum 25 sources, with ≥60% from peer-reviewed journal articles (last 5 years).

1.1.2 Conceptual/Theoretical Articles

  1. Replace Results and Discussion with Critical Analysis, emphasizing theoretical frameworks, paradigm critiques, or synthesis of emerging trends.
  2. Must demonstrate originality in conceptualization and relevance to Islamic communication.

1.2. Formatting Specifications

  1. Text: Garamond 12pt (body), single-line spacing, justified alignment.
  2. Headings: Bold, hierarchical (e.g., 2.1., 2.1.1.).
  3. Tables & Figures:
    1. Tables: No vertical lines; horizontal lines only for header and footer (Garamond 10pt).
    2. Figures: High-resolution (300+ DPI), centered with descriptive captions (Garamond 12pt). Source citations must appear directly below.
  4. Citations: Use author-date format (e.g., Nurdin, 2020: 90) and APA 7th edition for references.

2. Ethical Compliance

  1. Originality: Submissions must not exceed 20% similarity (Turnitin).
  2. Disclosures: Declare conflicts of interest, funding sources, and IRB approvals (if applicable).
  3. Authorship: All contributors must meet ICMJE criteria for authorship.

4. Submission Procedure

  1. Online Submission: Upload via OJS/email (if specified) as a Word document.
  2. File Naming: CorrespondingAuthor_ShortTitle.docx (e.g., Nurdin_DigitalDa’wah.docx).
  3. Cover Letter: Briefly articulate the manuscript’s scholarly significance and alignment with JICoS’s scope.

5. Peer Review and Publication

  1. Double-blind review: Minimum 2 independent referees evaluate scholarly rigor, originality, and relevance.
  2. Revision Timeline: Authors must respond to reviewers’ comments within 21 days (extensions negotiable).
  3. Copyediting: Accepted manuscripts undergo language and formatting checks prior to publication.

6. Key Enhancements
